Aloha, Here is where you find out what is blooming. This week the Red Rostrata, a hanging heliconia, has started to unfold enough to cut and add to our arrangements and gift boxes. The Red Rostrata grows in height 3′ to almost 20′ tall, they like full sun with a little shade. Once cut, the flower will last from one week to about 10 days (sometimes a little longer if you’ve changed the water) Look for these to be added to the Mothers Day gift boxes. Remember to order early to insure delivery before the big day!

Red Caribaea heliconia
This month the Red Caribaea heliconia is blooming. Red Carib, as we call it, start blooming around the end of February and keep blooming into early May. They grow to be about 12′ to 18′ tall and love the sun. Once cut and cleaned they are perfect for bouquets. The shelf life after cutting is approximately 3 weeks, sometimes a little longer if you’ve changed the water and recut the stem.
Caribaea heliconia also comes in other colors such as Gold (yellow in color), Flash (a mix of green and yellow) and the “prince of darkness” (a deep dark red). Look for the Red Caribaea in our Mother’s Day gift boxes, it’s sure to please!
